The Sound of Christmas at Frederiksborg
Christmas symphonies and melodies fill the museum
Christmas symphonies and melodies fill the museum
Händel’s Messiah in the Great Hall, Corelli’s famous Christmas Concerto in G minor from around 1690 in the Audience Hall, and enchanting Christmas tunes in the Princess Wing. During the holiday season, the sound of Christmas fills the grand halls and the chandelier-lit corridors on the second floor of the Princess Wing. Welcome to these atmospheric rooms as we, for the first time at Frederiksborg, let the sound of Christmas set the mood!
In the Angel Hall, the museum’s Christmas tree stands as part of special school visits exploring Countess Danner’s Christmas celebrations at the castle. Meanwhile, under the Story Loft in the grand 18th-19th century room on the first floor of the Princess Wing, you can hear Lydmor’s piece, created for the loft as part of the Magical Ceilings special exhibition.
Go get the special winter vibes
As darkness falls and on cloudy winter days, the chandeliers at Frederiksborg shine! Experience the Castle Church, the Great Hall, and the Princess Wing on the 2nd floor, illuminated by chandelier light. Enjoy a magical walk under the chandeliers or go exploring the portrait gallery, historic scenes, and halls by flashlight.

In the spirit of the season, Frederiksborg Castle Church is busy during Sundays. Whereas access to the church may be restricted from time to time, be sure that you will get the chance to explore the magnificent chapel. The museum provides access via the upper gallery floor.
