Golden Days

13/09 2025 kl. 10:00 - 17:00
Special event 1 / 2

Four couples will be wed in the Great Hall – you are invited!

For the very first time, the Great Hall will host civil wedding ceremonies. This happens as part of the Golden Days Festival event “The Big Day.” You can witness the four weddings in the Great Hall on a first-come, first-served basis, as seating is limited. The four couples have been selected by Golden Days, and now it’s time for a truly special day!

Ceremony 1: 10:15–11:00
Ceremony 2: 11:00–11:45
Ceremony 3: 11:45–12:30
Ceremony 4: 12:30–13:15

Ellen Hillingsø will act as master of ceremonies and conduct the weddings together with the local registrar. Admission to the weddings in the Great Hall is free, but due to limited capacity, seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for the ceremonies cannot be booked in advance. If you wish to take part in the rest of the day’s program, a regular museum ticket is required.

The Big Day at Frederiksborg is all about love. Across the museum, historical love stories unfold. Learn about brewer J.C. and Laura Jacobsen, King Frederik 7. and his beloved Countess Danner, as well as King Christian 4. and Kirsten Munk. In the exhibition Danner of Denmark, you can explore the story of Countess Danner – the woman of the people who married the king. Danner’s life and love are closely connected to Frederiksborg, where her presence can still be felt today.

After the weddings, you can experience an intimate harp concert with Selma Judith – a musical journey through love and vulnerability. The concert will last about 15 minutes.
