Autumn Break Activities for the Whole Family

Zodiac signs, star-gazing and sports stars. You’ll find it all at Frederiksborg.
This autumn break, we invite children and their families to go on an adventure among the stars – both those shining in the night sky, and those hidden in ceilings and paintings across the vast museum.

10:30–11:00 & 14:00–14:30: Star Hunt – guided family tour
Join us on a journey through Frederiksborg’s grand halls and discover stars in every shape and form:
Glittering stars in the ceilings, zodiac signs in art and royal history – and maybe even sports stars and famous Danes in the museum’s modern portrait collection. With a telescope in hand, we’ll take a closer look at what it really means to be a star.

We’ll begin with Frederiksborg’s most impressive treasure: the Gottorp Globe – a 400-year-old model of the universe that shows how people in the 1600s tried to understand the infinite cosmos, with plenty of imagination and starry dreams. Peek inside the globe and watch the planets’ journey across the heavens!

10:00–17:00: Creative workshops in the castle’s old Banqueting Hall
Build your own telescope and create your own planet. Use both hands and imagination to shape a universe full of stars – the ones we can see, and the ones we can only dream of.

Why have stars always fascinated us? How have people imagined the universe – and their own place in it – throughout history? What does it really mean to be a star? And can you make your own telescope? Take part in our “star moments” and find out!

Free admission for children.
